A previously suspended Bureau of Land Management wild horse roundup resumed on Saturday, July 17, after a temporary restraining order was rescinded.
The Elko County, Nev., roundup was suspended after the deaths of 12 horses sparked outrage from wild horse advocates.
U.S. District Court Judge Larry R. Hicks—the same judge who issued the restraining order—rescinded the motion on July 16, after deciding that the roundup was necessary in order to prevent more horses from dying due to dehydration, according to TheHorse.com.
Since resuming the roundup on Saturday, the BLM has gathered about 250 more wild horses. Many were treated for water starvation or dehydration.
