Australian Olympian Scott Keach will be hosting the first Voltaire Eventing Jumping Challenge at Southern Cross Farm in Ocala, Florida on March 5, 2013 at 2:00PM between teams from Canada and the USA. The nations cup format event will see eventing teams from across North America go head-to head in the show jumping arena over Marc Donavan's courses in a two-round format. With $5,000 in prize money and an opportunity for several Florida-based top eventers to compete in a facility with optimum footing and high quality jumps, there has been enthusiastic support for this debut show.
"I wanted to create a show where event riders can practice under pressure," said Keach who coaches several event riders as well as his show jumping clientele. "I'm very happy that the Canadian and U.S. coaches - Clayton Fredericks and David O'Connor - have jumped at the opportunity to give their riders some match practice before they head to their first big events of the spring season," added Keach, who is the resident trainer at Southern Cross Equestrian.
Corporate sponsors have already been attracted to the show, and in addition to the Title Sponsors; Voltaire, Wordley Martin, who supplied the arena footing; the construction company Delbene Brothers Inc.; Horse Shippers and Dressage Boarding & Training Barn, Station Hill Farm, Ocala Horse Properties and Kentucky Equine Research have become Gold Level Sponsors.
There will be a schooling show in the morning beginning with Preliminary at 8:00 AM followed by Intermediate at 10:30. Refreshments will be available.
Southern Cross Equestrian is located at 13440 NW Highway 225, Reddick, FL 32686.
