Show jumper Oki Doki passed away on Monday, July 20, due to septic shock in his abdomen.
The bay 14-year old Dutch-bred gelding injured a tendon while competing in Cannes (France) in June this year. Oki Doki subsequently underwent surgery and recovered well. The gelding was on post-operative medication, but developed complications on Monday night.
Oki Doki was best known for his exuberant jumping style and his many achievements with Dutch rider Albert Zoer. Together, the pair finished third at the 2009 Rolex FEI World Cup Show Jumping Final and won the 2008 Olympia Grand Prix at London’s International Olympia Horse Show. Argentinian Jose Larocca bought the gelding earlier this year.
