Thoroughbred Placement Resources, Inc. has announced their inaugural “Constant Star-OTTBs For Sport Contest,” designed to showcase the versatility and trainability of OTTBs in competitive sports after the racetrack and to share TPR’s methods for making that transition. The contest opens on Feb. 1 and will accept entries until March 31.
The “Constant Star-OTTBs For Sport Contest” is inspired by the 2012 John Madden Sales’ “Breeder’s Bridge to High Performance” contest, which received almost 140 entries. Constant Star, a 2007 off-track Thoroughbred mare and a TPR alumnus, was chosen as one of two winners of the Breeder’s Bridge contest.
TPR’s new contest is open to any Thoroughbred who has raced at least one time. Preference will be given to horses still at the track or very recently off the track as well as to horses aimed towards competitive disciplines.
Entrants will be required to submit photos and video in addition to completing a written application. Five semi-finalists will be chosen from the initial entries and evaluated in person at which time a single winner will be chosen by Kimberly Clark, Executive Director of TPR and trainer at Leighton Farm in Upper Marlboro, Md., and a panel of judges:
Eric Dierks-4 Star Eventer
Silva Martin-Top level dressage rider and licensed riding instructor
Boyd Martin-Four-Star Eventer and Olympian
