Nominations Open For Craig Ferrell Safety Awards

Jan 4, 2013 - 4:45 AM

Riders4Helmets have announced that their equestrian safety awards will be renamed in honor of Craig Ferrell M.D., former U.S. Equestrian team physician and Chair of the Fédération Equestre Internationale Medical Council, who died in May due to neck and spinal injuries sustained in a fall from a horse.

The safety awards honor outstanding individuals who either made a difference in the equestrian world though their campaigning for rider safety or who were exceptional roles models for helmet wearing. Dr. Ferrell himself was a recipient of a 2011 award.

The winners of the 2012 awards will be announced at the fourth annual Riders4Helmets Safety Symposium on Feb. 2.

To submit a nomination, email with the name of the individual whom you are nominating, their nationality and the reason for the nomination. Nominations close on Jan. 26. Winners will be chosen based on the number of nominations an individual receives and the reasons provided for the nomination.
