Wellington, Fla.—Feb. 10

It’s been more than a year since My Lady cantered down her last centerline at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, but she made one last lap around the international ring in an emotional retirement ceremony during last night’s freestyle.

Owned by Danish riders Janne Rumbough and Mikala Gundersen, My Lady, an 18-year-old Danish Warmblood mare (Michellino—Marion, Ritterstern) was a popular freestyle competitor with Gundersen in the irons.

Together they won numerous CDIs at AGDF, including the CDI***** Grand Prix freestyle in 2016, and the Dressage At Devon CDI-W Grand Prix freestyle in 2015. They also represented Denmark at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (France) and the 2015 FEI European Championships (Germany).

“I just want to say thank you to everybody—all her fans who supported My Lady and Mikala,” said Janne.

“Thank you to all of Lady’s fans,” Gundersen added. “She loves you. She came in here Friday nights, the music came on, and everybody was here cheering her on, and she performed every single time. She’s never let us down on a Friday night. Thank you Janne, without you this could not have been possible.”

“Lady” is in foal to Vitalis and is expecting soon.
