Mobile Equine Clinic Brings Veterinary Aid To Rural Areas

Veterinarians with the Mid-Rivers Equine Centre in St. Louis, Mo., will be touring rural areas of Missouri and Illinois in their mobile medical care unit. The remote-location service will bring the skills and expertise of a large equine referral hospital to rural areas that don’t have an exclusive equine practice.

The Mid-Rivers Mobile Equine Centre is a 39-foot Tycoon trailer specifically designed and built as an equine exclusive mobile surgical unit. The Mid-Rivers team converted the surgery room into an examination room that allows a controlled clinical environment in any location. The unit has a fully functional lab connected to the main exam room and a small office.

The Mid-Rivers Mobile unit will spend approximately two weeks in a given location. Areas with greater need will be served more frequently adding more dates to these locations. The mobile unit will dramatically reduce the cost of farm calls while providing local office visits and the expertise and care previously only available in a referral clinic setting.
