Eventers Boyd Martin, 31, and Laine Ashker, 26, have received grants from the U.S. Equestrian Federation to travel to France and ride in the Pau CCI****, which takes place Nov. 4-7.
Martin, of West Grove, Pa., was the highest placed U.S. competitor at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games last month when he finished 10th with Neville Bardos. He’ll ride Remington XXV for Henley House Stables. Remington, a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding, was 12th in his first CCI**** at the 2010 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, and he was also short-listed for the WEG.
Ashker, Richmond, Va., will join Martin with her own Anthony Patch. This pair finished 14th at Rolex Kentucky, which was the 11-year-old ex-race horse's first four-star. They recently won an advanced division at the Morven Park Horse Trials (Va.) in the beginning of October.
