Lyndon Rife Is Out Of The ICU

Lyndon Rife’s health is improving after he was injured in a riding accident on Oct 14.  According to a letter posted on Dressage Daily from his wife, Julie Madriguera, Rife moved out of intensive care and is already looking forward to riding as soon as possible.

Doctors removed Rife’s burst spleen in an emergency surgery.  He broke 10 ribs and suffered further complications from losing large amounts of blood.  Fortunately, he did not suffer head trauma because he was wearing a helmet.

Rife was riding a client’s young horse when the accident occurred.

“We attempted to handle the situation carefully, yet the brief but troubled history of this youngster was stronger than our efforts,” wrote Madriguera.

“Lyndon is incredibly strong, and we all have full faith he will recover completely. I am gradually making him aware of all of the love and support that is coming his way, and I am also full of faith that this will bolster his recovery.”
