It Was Huge! And Beezie Won!

Apr 28, 2013 - 1:42 PM

What an amazing day!!! We started early again—I rode in the ring at 7:15. Cylana felt super, just as good as day 1! Goose is also feeling much better after a few easy days.

After I rode I hit the gym to prepare for the Final! We walked at 1:00 and it was HUGE! All the riders agreed it was the biggest course they had ever seen indoors and besides the Spruce Meadows Masters, one of the hardest they’d ever done. There were no clean in the first round.

I had two rails down in both rounds but my horse jumped beautifully and it was really a massacre. I finished 10th, which I was thrilled about for my first World Cup Final!!! McLain Ward finished fifth with Trooper and they are a new combination so they were also very happy.

Finally—BEEZIE WON!!! America sealed the deal two years in a row! It was a nailbiter coming down to a jump-off between Beezie and Steve. Steve had two down which gave her a big enough margin for error and she delivered!

After everything was done we gathered to celebrate in the hotel bar on the 23rd floor appropriately named “Heaven 23.” It was a very fun celebration to congratulate Beezie, John Madden, Clark (her groom), and the whole team including Tim Ober, the team vet, and Robert Ridland, our chef!

It was an incredible week to put it mildly. I head back home tomorrow and I’m excited to get back to work with my other horses and see my dog Miss Carly!!!! xx
