Five-time Olympic gold medalist Isabell Werth gave birth to a baby boy named Frederik last Friday, Oct. 30.
Frederik weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. Werth, 40, and partner Wolfgang Urban said they are “endlessly happy” over the birth of their son.
Despite her hiatus from dressage competition due to a six-month Fédération Equestre International suspension for doping, Werth maintains a No. 2 spot on the FEI’s Dressage Riders World Ranking List. According to Dressage-News.com, Werth hopes to compete at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in the fall of 2010.
“I will work as hard as necessary to return to the pinnacle of the sport,” she said.
