They started dating during the selection trials in which Haddad finished fourth and earned the reserve spot on the U.S. dressage team.

Haddad, currently based in Vechta, Germany, will remain in Germany for the time being, but she plans to relocate to the United States after the 2012 London Olympic Games to be with her husband. “Meanwhile, we both like to travel!” said Haddad.

Witnesses to the brief ceremony were Marina Staller Stern, the groom’s sister, and her husband Marc Stern. Haddad accompanied her blue Cerrutti dress with bracelets made from the tail hairs of her three Grand Prix horses: Winyamaro, Cadillac and Maximus.

The pair intends to celebrate their elopement with a large party in New Jersey in the summer months.
