Four-Star Event Horse Mazetto Retires

Kehoe Enterprises LLC announced the retirement of four-star event horse Mazetto. Early in 2011, “Eric” suffered a minor ligament injury. Despite spending a lengthy rehabilitation, little improvement was seen, and rider Ashley Kehoe and Dr. Christiana Ober decided the 18-year-old gelding required lighter work.

Kehoe Enterprises LLC announced the retirement of four-star event horse Mazetto. Early in 2011, “Eric” suffered a minor ligament injury. Despite spending a lengthy rehabilitation, little improvement was seen, and rider Ashley Kehoe and Dr. Christiana Ober decided the 18-year-old gelding required lighter work.

A New Zealand Cleveland Bay/Thoroughbred cross (Master Jack—Bozetto), Mazetto completed the four-stars at Badminton (England) and Luhmuhlen (Germany) with New Zealand’s Jonelle Richards in the tack. The pair was also a New Zealand eventing squad alternate for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

In 2010, Mazetto and rider Ashley Kehoe placed third in the Jersey Fresh CIC***, seventh at the Bromont CCI*** in Quebec, Canada, second at the Plantation CIC*** (Pa.), and finished their advanced career together by completing the Fair Hill International CCI*** in October.
