The First Days in Kentucky

Blogger extraordinaire Catherine Haddad writing from Lexington, Ky. Photo by Michelle Adaway.

Dear Rita,

The whole dressage team arrived in Lexington safe and sound last weekend. The team is settled in over at the Horse Park, and W is a guest at Reese Koffler-Stanfield’s stable in Georgetown. Reese’s place is fully equipped, professional and an ideal place to train for the week, so I am very happy to be there. Here is a short video clip of Reese’s stable and the Team Processing that took place at the USEF offices at the Horse Park:

W is in fine form, and I have no doubt that he will be ready to step up to the plate if we are called up to service before next weekend. Have a look at W’s grooming antics and a clip from our workout this morning:

Last but not least, Kentucky has a colorful culture all its own. As reserve rider, I have a bit more time and freedom on my hands than some of my teammates. People who know me well are saying, “Uh oh.” Not to worry, Rita! I just stopped off at a Catfish Lake to see what was going on! Got to interview some locals about the sport:

I’m Catherine Haddad, and I’m saying it like it is from Georgetown, Kentucky!

Training Tip of the Day: Do you prepare your horse for a good workout with proper grooming?

HAT

Robin I will have you know Catherine looked quite cute in that Hat and it's part of the team outfit.  It was amazing how when she put it on she was transformed she really sounded like a cowboy.  I happen to love that picture and shows my talent as a photographer.  Robin I tried to get more out of them before we turned the camera on but no luck.  I will be taking Catherine out for some catfish before she leaves..It's very good.

Michelle- you are an excellent photographer and videographer- in fact, Catherine looks quite cute in anything she would wear...I am not sure I am interested in hearing her sound like a cowboy- but I trust your judgement. Bob would love to join you for catfish, I will have to decline.  Have fun!
