The legendary rider, trainer, founder and president of Equestrian.Coach.com, Bernie Traurig, spent several weeks in Wellington in January shooting new segments for his highly-regarded education portal.
The celebrated guest coaches included notables Stacia Madden, Missy Clark, Ronnie Beard, and Cynthia Hankin.
Missy Clark's segment focused on what to look for in a great equitation horse. Clark also did a segment on the crest and automatic releases. Stacia Madden did three segments, including an exercise she is convinced directly led to Jessica Springsteen's 2008 ASPCA Maclay win. Cynthia Hankin's topic was rider position, demonstrating not only the right way, but also examples of the wrong way.
Ronnie Beard did a very interesting topic on the qualities he expects a top hunter to possess. His examples go back to the Thoroughbreds of the Big Hunter Classics of the 1970's and continue to the present day Warmblood Hunters.
Traurig shot an intriguing topic: a study of takeoff and landing distances of both hunters and jumpers at all different heights.
