International equestrian photographer Libby Law suffered a serious head injury in a roller blading accident on Nov. 17 in Melbourne, Australia. The crash happened days before the Kiwi was to photograph the Australian International Three-Day Event CCI**** in Adelaide.
According to Law’s Facebook post on Nov. 22, she fractured the back of her skull and suffered a spinal fracture.
“A wonderful cyclist found me dazed and not quite conscious and helped me up and literally carried me to a spot to get a cab,” she wrote on Facebook.
Law was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital where she’s being cared for by a full neurological team and is awake.

“After a few more scans and meetings with the team I am so confident in their knowledge: and today we seem to have found the balance for pain meds and antibiotics that have seen me have a relaxed and comfy (if a little spaced out!) afternoon,” she wrote.
The ever-chipper Law didn’t even post about her accident before congratulating Australian Shane Rose on his incredible one-two double at Adelaide and offering her condolences that she wasn’t there to support the riders.
Law photographs major three-day events around the world, including the Rolex Kentucky CCI****, runs the website libbylawphotography.com and is a regular contributor to The Chronicle of the Horse and many other equestrian publications.
