Australian show jumper Edwina Alexander, who, as of Sept. 28, is the top- ranked female rider in the Fédération Equestre Internationale’s Rolex Rankings, wed Dutch equestrian heavyweight Jan Tops on Sept. 17 at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Tops, 50, is a four-time Olympian, who won gold with the Dutch show jumping team at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. He is also the founder and president of the Global Champions Tour, a series of 10 grand prix competitions held all over the world.
Alexander, 37, has hyphenated her last name and will now compete as Alexander-Tops. She placed fourth individually in the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games, competed in the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong and the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (Ky.), and currently holds the lead in the GCT rankings over Germany’s Ludger Beerbaum as the tour prepares to wrap up in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) on Nov. 24-26 for the final show of the year.
