Charity Horse Show To Benefit Humane Society Of Broward County

South Florida equestrians and local animal lovers are joining together to raise money for the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC). The second annual Ride for the Animals presented by Finish Line Feed” charity horse show will take place on Saturday, January 19  . The event, which is part of the popular HeritageHorse Show series, will be held at the Plantation Equestrian Center, located at 1451 Northwest 118th Avenue, adjacent to Volunteer Park. Festivities kick off at 2 p.m.


In addition to equestrian classes, this family friendly event will include competitions for dogs and people, with entry fees being donated to the HSBC.


Equestrians can participate in special classes including open Walk Trot and the Crazy Calcutta class, a timed event where riders of all levels will encounter obstacles and challenges. In a Calcutta-style class, riders seek sponsorship money from friends, with funds raised going into the prize pool. The total amount raised will be split between the winning rider and the HSBC. Walk Trot winners will share a prize pot valued at $300 donated by Just Fur Fun, a specialty pet products designer, and Heritage Horse Show.

Dog lovers are invited to bring their canine companions andparticipate in contests including Silly Dog Tricks, Doggie Costume and Dog and Owner Look-a-Like contests. This year, Heritage is giving spectators an opportunity to compete for bragging rights by adding games for people of all ages including a Three Legged Race, Water Balloon Toss and more.


Dog and spectator contests begin at 2 pmwith equestrian classes starting at 4 p.m. The evening will be capped off with a BBQ fundraiser sponsored by Heritage Horse Show. Raffle items including restaurant gift certificates, beauty treatments, home décor items and more will be on display throughout the day, with prizes drawn at the end of the day. Entry fees for equestrian events are $15 per class, and $5 per class for the other events.
