The Area 1 Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the criteria for our 2013 eventing scholarships.

This year, we are fortunate to have received additional funds from Area 1, and will be offering nine total scholarships of $250 apiece. One scholarship has been sponsored by the Area 1 Adult Riders Program and will be reserved for members of that program, and one scholarship will be reserved for professional riders. All scholarships are available to all USEA members, with preference given to riders based in Area 1.

Scholarship monies may be used for eventing-related educational purposes, including lessons, clinics, and camps; unmounted lectures and seminars; ICP, judge, official, and organizer training; eventing-related conferences or conventions; other educational purposes not specified. In the past, scholarship winners have applied funds toward lessons with their own trainers, clinics with upper-level eventing trainers, and lessons with trainers from other disciplines to further their work in a particular area.

Scholarship application materials can be found on the Area 1 webite at http://area1usea.org/2013-Scholarship.htm, and all applications are due by midnight EST on April 15, 2013.
