Anky Van Grunsven Named Reserve Rider For Dutch Reining Team

Top dressage rider Anky van Grunsven has been named a reserve rider on the Netherlands’ reining team for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, as announced by the Dutch Chef D’Equipe Caspar de Jonge.

Van Grunsven will travel to Kentucky with her reining mount, Whizashiningwalla BB. Other team members include van Grunsven’s trainer, Rieky Young, Fenna Elzinga, Hubertus Heule and Jurgen Poels.

The three-time Olympic medalist announced in June that she would not attempt to qualify for the country’s WEG dressage team, citing a long-term injury to her primary mount, Salinero, and inconsistent performances by her secondary mount, Painted Black.
