One week after announcing that all horses tested negative, the Fédération Equestre Internationale announced on Friday, Oct. 22, that all the athletes tested at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky were also negative for any prohibited substances.
The WEG took place from Sept. 25-Oct. 10 in Lexington, Ky., and featured 632 human athletes from 58 countries. Three athletes were tested via urine sample in each of the eight disciplines, and all 24 were clean.
“Clean sport is one of the FEI’s major goals,” FEI President HRH Princess Haya said. “It is wonderful news that all tests on our human and equine athletes at the 2010 World Equestrian Games were negative. The FEI Clean Sport Campaign is all inclusive and covers every aspect of our sport. With everyone on side we really can move forward in the drive for fair play and a level playing field for all.”
